After much reading and consulting with other Reiki Masters, I concur that the best way to recieve a Reiki attunement is with a Master passing it on directly, hands-on to the student.  William Rand has an article on it at his site if you are interested in reading a bit more, click here. My opinion mirrors his.

The healing sessions you provide with your Reiki II will be more powerful. You will also learn to do distance healing sessions where the person/animal being healed is not physically present. In Reiki II, there are three symbols that are introduced and used consciously during sessions.

Prerequisite - you need to be Reiki Level I attuned for at least 3 months before taking Level II. 

Schedule for the day:

Review of the basics taught in Reiki I 

Learn the Reiki II Symbols and how to use them 

Attunement to Reiki Level II

Lunch break (bring a bagged lunch)

Using Reiki for emotional and distance healings

Practice using distance healing

Reiki II Certificate given at completion of this class

Prerequisite - Usui Reiki Level I and Level II attunements must be completed. I will need copies of your certificates if you were not trained by me.A one year minimum time frame is recommended between Level II and Master Level although any time after 6 months will be considered. To be considered for Reiki Master Level attunement, a student must demonstrate a knowledge of, and dedication to, Reiki that indicates s/he is ready to proceed to the Master Level. 

Reiki Master Level - spiritual healing, teacher/master level. Master is simply one who has mastered a discipline. In this case the discipline is Reiki. No ego is or should be involved in using this term. The Master Level attunement involves healing on a spiritual level. There is almost no adjustment time needed after the Master Level attunement other than perhaps a day or two of rest. At this level, the energy flows at a much higher vibration. 

Master Level is only recommended for the serious healer and especially for those who want to make Reiki a major part of their lives and/or want to teach Reiki to others.
